Obtaining more golf swing power is always beneficial. Many amateur golfers have trouble getting the same amount of power in their swing as PGA Tour golfers, but it is not a matter of skill as much as it is correcting the swing.
According to Chuck Winstead, many golfers have a narrow swing, meaning that they begin narrow at the top causing a wide downswing that is narrow through the ball. This results in a shot with not much power behind it.
To correct this, Winstead suggests doing the opposite, starting wide at the top while being narrow through the downswing with great width in the follow-through.
