In this video golf lesson, Padraig Harrington demonstrates how to do a successful pitch-and-run shot.
First, choosing the right club with the right amount of loft is key. According to Harrington, for any pitch shot, the weight of the body should remain on top or ahead of the ball. A problem he sees among many amateurs is the tendency to lean back in order to help the ball up, which results in a heavy shot.
Harrington also suggests practicing this kind of shot with the ball forward in the stance rather than further back. This will allow you to play better under numerous different circumstances.
