This video features Jim Furyk at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda offering a few tips for long-distance bunker shots.
This type of shot requires an open clubface, and the problem that Furyk sees often is that many golfers will approach with their normal grip and then try to open the clubface without adjusting the position of their hands on the club. This will result in keeping the club square rather than open.
It is important to first open the clubface and then adjust the grip. This shot also requires a long, full swing rather than one that is short and quick in order to create the energy that will push the ball a longer distance.
