Amateur golfers are usually instructed not to hit balls with a driver out of the rough or the fairway when it's not on a tee, but in this video golf lesson, Rick Barry demonstrates how to do it correctly in order for the ball to go low and far while against the wind.
First, the ball should be back in the stance. Walk up to the shot like any other shot, but rather than catching the ball on an upswing, use a slight descending blow that will cause the driver to lightly brush the ground.
This will allow the golf ball to have a little bit of a cut, causing it to stay low while traveling a fair amount of distance.
