Frank Nobilo offers a helpful exercise in this video golf lesson for dealing with chip shots.
He recommends doing this practice drill at a chipping green rather than an actual golf course, since it involves the use of visual markers. Nobilo goes through what he calls his "ABC's" of chip shooting - with A being the golf ball, B a visual marker that is used as a reference point and C the finish.
He states that these kinds of shots are easier when realizing that to be successful, it is really only a matter of getting from point A to point B with the rest of the shot falling into place after that point.
