Golf instructor Jim McLean offers four power drills that can help improve the length and accuracy of your drives.
In the first drill, McLean shows how to correct the common problem of not getting far enough behind the ball and leaving too much weight on the left leg. The second exercise is a step-and-hit drill that will allow golfers to feel the proper sequence of motion in the swing. The last two drills will help in obtaining a feel for the weight and speed of the club as well as where its placement should be when you start down.

Does one turn the same way with irons? Would the first drill apply to irons?
